Cover of Outdoor Photographer Magazine and big article on HDR Done Naturally

by josephrossbachphoto

My image from Otter Cliffs at sunrise, Acadia National Park is featured as this months cover for Outdoor Photographer Magazine. I made this image almost 10 years ago and it’s funny to think how long some files sit in the archives before getting them published. There is a pretty wild story behind the making of this image, but you will need to pick up the magazine to hear about that!

Also be sure to read my featured article “HDR Done Naturally” which was also published in this months edition of OP.

Also, Outdoor Photographer will be doing a full feature/profile on my photography later this year in one of the summer editions of the magazine. More info to come when I know!

Good article, Joseph. Lost at sea, huh!

Is that cover image shot from the cobble beach and flipped horizontally? Or were you below Otter Cliffs (Fabbri side) and shooting back up?

What a great holiday gift, Joe, and talk about starting the new year off on the right foot. Congratulations!

Thanks Ed! OP flipped the shot for layout. Did not know about it until after the magazine went to press.

Thanks Guy! I look forward to seeing your tremendous work and working with you on a few projects in 2010!

    Happy New Year guys!!!

Is it really Otter Cliffs if the image is flipped?
What if it were El Cap in Yosemite? Yes, it was fliped for cover layout, but also represented inside the mag in the same layout.
Makes me wonder how many other covers they’ve flipped and folks haven’t noticed. Be interesting to see how they respond.

Otherwise a great article on HDR.

Congratulations Joe! That’s fantastic! It’s been sitting on my coffee table but I haven’t had a chance to pick it up yet. I didn’t even realize it was yours. Way to go! — Denise
