Downtown Baltimore to Great Falls National Park in 24 hours
I started out this weekend shooting in downtown Baltimore at sunrise on Saturday morning. I had a 1/2 day workshop that started at 10am and instead of sleeping in I got downtown at 6:30am to have a go at shooting reflections in the various buildings around the harbor. I met the group at 10am and we started of the workshop at Second Chance Warehouse to shoot all the cool oddities, old furniture and stained glass. Its a great place to go for a few hours and there are some really interesting shots to be had. They are very kind to photographers and will let you shoot with a tripod.
After 2 hours at Second Chance, we headed over to the Visionary Art Museum to photograph the facade of the building. As you can see from the images below, this place is a photographers dream come true. This morning I started the day at dawn at Great Falls National Park on the Virginia side. The light was so-so and there were no clouds in the sky so I stuck to shooting small intimate scenes along the rivers edge and managed to get a pretty nice image of the spout back-lit and some nice spray of mist from the falls. I used my Singh Ray Vari-Nd filter to lengthen the exposure to 5 seconds in the hard light and my 3 stop ND grad to hold back the exposure on the sky. I am pretty happy with the results. What do you think?
Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques!
