Back from Shenandoah National Park
I just returned home from 2 days of shooting in Shenandoah National Park. I was planning on going up during the week to avoid the crowds, but when I saw that they were calling for rain and clouds on Saturday, I decided to tough it out and be on location in hopes of producing some dramatic images. My wife Amber accompanied me and we spent our time hiking and shooting in various locations. On Saturday, we hiked down to Big Falls of Overall Run, the parks largest waterfall, in hopes of catching some fog lofting around the falls. We were not disappointed. It rained all day and we were drenched to the bone. It was all worth it!
After returning to the car from the long hike, we headed south on the drive and scouted out a location to shoot sunset. The skies cleared to the west just in time to paint the clearing storm in dramatic light. The next morning we returned at sunrise for a quick shoot and then rushed off to Vienna for our first meeting for this years 2009 Meadowlark Nature Photrography Expo.
What a great weekend! Here are some shots that I have processed so far. Enjoy! Joe
