Stormy Skies at Sunset, Mather Gorge, Great Falls National Park, Virginia

by josephrossbachphoto

I made this image a few weeks ago under stormy skies. It had began to rain in the middle of the day and although it appeared it would not clear up in time for sunset, I decided to take my chances anyway. I made this image on the Maryland side of the Potomac after climbing down the steep rocks to the edge of the water. The light lasted for only a few minutes and then it was gone.

By the way !

Myself and fellow photographer Ian Plant, Author and photgraphewr of the critically acclaimed book “Chesapeake Bay of Light” will be leading a group workshop in St. Micheals and the Blackwater NWR next weekend. We still have 3 spots left on the tour, so if anyone is interested in signing up be sure to visit http://mountaintrailphoto.com/workshops_2.htm for registration details.

Beautiful image, my friend. The Maryland side can be really great – during low water. I think I may need to make a trip back there soon.
